Around the world, persecution against Christians as the living Body of Jesus Christ continues to increase. The Church is under assault, even as it has been throughout the ages.

Paul the Apostle, after suffering intense persecution, wrote: Beloved do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you, but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, what when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you (1Pet 4:12-14).

This truth was also learned by Peter at the feet of Jesus, when He spoke: These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (John 16:33; see also John 15:20).

In recent centuries, some nations have been spared intense resistance, suffering and challenge, especially in the West. But times are changing. In fact, it is clear that the entire world is in a season of epic change and uncertainty.

In such times, when unrest, conflict and deception are rising, people will reach out for answers and stability, and anyone or anything that appears to offer certainty. It is quickly learned that human solutions alone will fall short and fail. Then, as further disillusion sets in, it will become more evident that humanity needs a power outside ourselves for real and lasting help and hope.

As sincere Christ-followers, we know our God is not far off. And He has already given us the Key to face the immense trial and need – and that key is Prayer!

When the Church prays, the hand of God is moved into action. All of the life, power and salvation of heaven is invited into the circumstances of a sinful and desperate humanity. There is One God Who hears and answers prayer, and that is certainly not false gods like Allah, Buddha, nor any of the 300-million+ hindu gods! It is Yahweh alone, the One true and living God, Who will answer when we call upon Him.

We who walk with God have the privilege and responsibility to take in hand this mighty key, under the leading and empowering of His Spirit. We can then pray that the Lord over all nations (Ps 2:8) would reveal Himself and His salvation for all people everywhere.

So let us pray for:

• Laborers in the Harvest (Mat 9:37,38), especially to be sent to those who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• God’s Kingdom presence to be poured out upon the Church and the nations, that His will would be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Mat 6:10).
• The release of dreams and visions of Jesus, and for signs, miracles and healings to be done in Jesus’ name, that they might convict and convince the unbeliever (Heb 2:4).
• The Church to clearly present the Gospel and to stand firm on biblical truth as she has been appointed to be, the pillar and ground [foundation, mainstay] of the truth (1Tim 3:15).

   
The Kingdom Key of prayer is in our hands, but we must use it! Even when we may not see the immediate results of our prayers, let us not grow weary in well doing – for our Lord has promised to move and act in our world as we ask of Him! He hears every word and will pour out His answers in His perfect timing and by His perfect grace.

What follows is a list of nations where believers are facing intensifying persecution. Many more nations could be listed, but these are critical in this moment. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you as you pray. Give time to wait upon Him, that He may pray through you according to His best and highest desire.

Trafficking of every sort is becoming rampant, not just by cartels but by the general population as well; some have said the situation has regressed to the similar broken conditions of 20 years ago; violent factions are seeking control, and the government is becoming overwhelmed.

Greatly increased jihadist violence that seeks to establish on Islamist empire (caliphate) ruled by strict Sharia law; if Christians do not convert to Islam, they will be tortured, raped, beaten and executed; those who can are fleeing the country.

Increased suppression of religion, especially Christianity; “Sinicization” of all religions (changing them to reflect Chinese culture and communism); rewriting the Bible to include communist principles and history, deny the deity of Jesus, with entire chapters being eliminated; it’s illegal to teach authentic Christianity or Bible truth to children and teenagers.

Rampant child slavery for ages 5-17, with 2-3 million children affected; several ministries are working to change this, and some are experiencing fruitfulness.

As the Kingdom of God advances, hell attempts to thwart the progress with persecution – but it only increases the spread of the Gospel! People from every tribe, tongue and nation are receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. So let us persevere with fervency in prayer, to do our part in crying out for those on the frontlines to receive grace and help in time of need, as well as for God’s Kingdom power and purpose to be released in these days!
