“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25).
At the time Jesus spoke these powerful words, the Jews already believed in resurrection to occur – someday. But here Jesus openly declares in the face of tragic death that He Himself, in His own person, is not only the hope of resurrection, but has the absolute power to accomplish it!
Millennia before this, Abraham discovered the same thing to be true (Heb 11:17-19). Our God is the only true and living God, Who is both the Lord of life AND Lord over death!
This same God is the One to whom we pray and in whom we place our total trust and hope. Many of us, though perhaps not facing imminent death, may be facing life-reducing circumstances, that can include:
- An unsaved family member
- Overwhelming health problems
- Difficult financial challenges
- Strained relationships
- Job uncertainty
And the list goes on. In the midst of such difficulties, it can feel as though “death” holds the upper hand and life is overshadowed by challenge.
Jesus came onto such a scene of crushed hopes and despair. And our Lord of Life stepped in to declare, “Lazarus, come forth!” And when He did, the impossible, the incomprehensible, took place to the stunned amazement of all present.
Today, our Resurrected Lord still beckons us to “come forth” into life by His power and name. There is no situation too difficult, no failure too great, that Jesus cannot speak His Word and release LIFE into it – His life, His power, His hope, His peace, His redemption, His healing, His answer!
This month, as we bring our prayers and intercessions before the Lord – whether they are as close as a family member or as far away as a nation in another part of the world – let our faith arise and let us pray with bold belief. For we are coming boldly into the “throne of grace” where is seated the One and only resurrected Lord of Resurrection and Life!
He is the One who will hear your prayer and will answer – Amen!
PRAY WITH US THIS MONTH!
Violence between Israel and the terrorist forces of Hamas in the Gaza Strip is escalating. The solution is not political or diplomatic. Until the Prince of Peace reigns in the hearts of people, there will still be conflict. Also, national elections will be held this month in Israel, and tensions can quickly escalate.
- For the peace of Jerusalem and of all Israel – as well as for the various nationalities, races and religious affiliations who also dwell there (Ps 122:6).
- For righteous leadership to be raised up for all peoples.
- For a cessation of violence and the removal of those who will not seek peace.
- For the Gospel to be effectively preached in every place.
